There are 3 Types of Vocations

One of the greatest theologians of all time, Thomas Aquinas, was known to have said there are 3 vocations: the active, contemplative and the mixed life. Historically, if someone wanted to be a contemplative, they were restricted to the monasteries. The active life and the contemplative life were seen as incongruent, rather than two parts of the essential whole. Unlike times past, we are living in an age when we have the privilege to live the mixed life in extraordinary ways—as contemplative activists—people who are deeply grounded in their divine essence and also actively engaged in their sphere of influence, contributing to creative, life-giving work.
